Another Eventful Week

Crawford has been a busy little bee the last week and a half, experiencing so many things for the first time!!  Saturday, February 5^th he started eating veggies!!  Kyle and I had the camera ready, but he enjoyed the sweet potatoes and had no funny faces for the camera.  He also got to play in his excersaucer this weekend for the first time!  We put him in it several weeks before and he was inches from touching the bottom, so we just put it up.  I thought this time we could put a pillow underneath, but he touched – I can’t believe how fast he is growing – make it stop!  He also got to socialize at the Super Bowl party.  It is so neat that so many of our friends have little ones or are expecting little ones shortly.  It will be interesting to see how their friendships develop over the years. 

The next vegetable Crawford got to try with Mae was squash, not as good as sweet potatoes, but as we learned this Sunday, much better than peas.  He is so cute; he will just barely open his mouth and put a little bit of the peas on his tongue, make a face and then swallow.  He has been a big boy and eaten them, but you can definitely tell they are not his favorite.  I think his daddy might kill me if he ends up with a palette like mine – more carbs, please!   Later this week we will start with green beans!!  We have been making all of his food, so far.  It’s been super easy in his baby food maker and all it is, is the veggie or fruit, no additives or preservatives!  Hopefully we can continue.

This weekend proved to be another busy weekend, as we spent most of it driving around looking at houses – poor baby was dragged in and out of houses all weekend, but he was a trooper!  We found one that we (I) really like from pictures, but we don’t go see it until next weekend.  I am trying not to get too excited, but it sure does look cute.  We aren’t in any major hurry to get in a new house, but…

And for the big news of the weekend – Crawford is scooting!!  He just did it a couple of times, but I think he will be on the move in the very near future – video coming soon.

Happy 5 Months

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Boy!!  Unbelievably Crawford is 5 months old today!  I have no idea how that happened, but it did.  Although I have loved every stage he has gone through, and I really do like this one – he is just so happy, always smiling and laughing, I must say I do miss his newborn days!  Although I was scared to death, didn’t sleep a whole lot, had no idea what his cries meant, I think I can really say I loved every bit of it.  Time really does fly!  So, since he had his 4 month (as you can see we are a little behind) photo shoot on Friday I decided to look back to those newborn days.  Here are some of the pictures from his newborn shoot, when he was only 7 days old.  What a handsome little man.  It really is hard for me to remember him when he was so little!!  I think I might need another one to remember!!

Date Night

Kyle and I had our first date since Crawford was born!!  Yay!!  As everyone knows I am super anal and a huge nervous nelly, so leaving him is not something I am real comfortable doing!  Although I do it during the day, every day, all day, try to make sense of that.  I don’t know what it is about the night, but for some reason it just makes me extra nervous leaving him!  We have left him a couple of times at night, but two were for work events and one was a Christmas party, so this was the first time just me and Kyle!  And I definitely think it was much needed – although it was just two hours, there were no distractions.  No laundry, no bottles, no dishes or TV - just us!!

Next step is letting him spend the night out – not sure if I will ever get there!!

Here are some pictures of his Aunt Tinsley feeding him right before we left and one of us, just for grins!  She, of course, did a great job and even texted me at 7:10 PM, about 45 minutes after we left, “full belly, squeaky clean and sound asleep”.  That text made the evening even more enjoyable – no worries!!

Stinky Is A Funny Word

What's New?

Since I have been so terrible about updating this blog in the last couple of weeks.  I thought I would just put a list of what Crawford has been up to.

·         He has found his tongue, and I think he has mine – it is super long!  And it is so cute how he sticks it out and smacks his lips.

·         He has finally started rolling over both ways.  He’s been rolling over from his tummy to his back since around Thanksgiving, but has just started going from the back to the belly.

·         The last post was his first bites of cereal and he is now up to 3 TBSP of rice cereal, two times a day.  I think we will be starting on the yellow and orange veggies in a week or so.  I hear they turn the babies’ nose orange – not sure how he is going to look in orange!

·         He is such a sweet, happy baby – he is now giving kisses.  If you make a kissy face, he will grab your face, open his mouth and dive in – melts my heart!

·         He is also laughing like crazy; I have a video that I will post soon. 

·         Something pretty new, is him playing in his crib – he has learned that just because we put him there doesn’t mean he has to go to sleep.  He is kicking his feet, rolling around, laughing and talking, just having a grand ole time.  I just don’t think he is going to be the best napper!

·         He likes to sleep at the head of the bed lying horizontally.  He scoots himself from where we put him down, until he is in special spot and out of the monitor!!

Nothing too exciting, but just wanted to get some of his milestones down on paper!

Crawford had his first bite of cereal this morning.  He seemed to enjoy it!!

Moving On Up!

Crawford went to the doctor yesterday for his 4-month check-up.  Technically he is about 4 months and 1 week, but whatever.  I absolutely cannot believe he is already 4 months old.  He was 14 pounds 3 ounces and 24 7/8 inches long.  He is moving up and is in the 50^th percentile for both!!   My growing boy!  His head measurement still puts him in the 30^th, but I am totally okay with that – no need for a big head!!  He also got his second round of shots and was such a trooper.  He, of course, screamed and turned purple when he got them and cried for a minute or two after, but that was it.  No fussing, no fever, no irritation, nothing!  So thankful for our wonderful little boy!!

We are starting rice cereal this weekend, so I’m sure I will have some funny pictures to post later.

Crawford's First Christmas

With all of the craziness of the Christmas holidays and our recent trip to Jackson Hole, I am way behind.   I guess I will start with all of the Christmas festivities.  Crawford was carted around, kept awake during nap time, held for three days straight and exposed to so many new faces.  And after all of that he was still such a great baby – I don’t know how Kyle and I got so lucky.

We spent Christmas Eve going to church at First Methodist – he was pretty good, but started talking about half-way through so we had to roam the halls for the rest.  It wouldn’t have been a big deal anywhere else; it is just so quite in church.  Then we went to Kyle’s Aunt and Uncle’s to open some presents there.  He got so many TOYS!!  He got an exersaucer, spin & spill cement truck, spin and learn top, musical croc block wagon, story reader, rhyme and discover book, a piggy bank, an FAO Schwartz teddy bear and many more toys.  Then finally it was bed time.

We woke up Christmas morning and Santa made a short stop at our house and brought him a radio flyer walking wagon and some more toys.  Nonni and Poppie came over to play and eat coffee cake with us.  Then we headed to Luke and Lisa’s for lunch and there were more presents.  He got the cutest bag with his name monogrammed on it that we ended up taking to Jackson Hole with all of his toys. After lunch we headed to Nonni and Poppie’s for Christmas dinner.  This Christmas was a little different than all the rest – Tins was in Jacksonville with Uncle Dave and his family.  So even though we had dinner Santa hadn’t come there yet, he promised he would come a day later to the Boé house.  And sure enough he did.

Sunday was spent rearranging all of his toys – they took up our entire guest bedroom.  I think we are going to need a bigger house very SOON!  Then we went to open more presents that afternoon.  And now I know we need a bigger house.

I know he won’t remember his 1^st Christmas, but I think if he could, he would say it was a great one!!

Beach Trip

Craziness!!

Life has been crazy!  I don’t even remember what went on last week.  This is why I started a blog, because when asked on Monday what I did on the weekend – I had NO CLUE.  I used to have the best memory and I knew pregnancy supposedly messed with your mind, but I don’t think mine is ever coming back.

So, since I don’t remember much – here is what I do know.

Crawford got to visit Santa again on Sunday – we had the annual Stolzenthaler Christmas party.  Crawford really does love people!  He took a short nap on the drive from our house to maw maw and paw paw’s and that was all he needed for a whole evening of fun!  He was passed around like a hot potato and not one peep out of him, he just quietly observed all of the people.  It was probably a good test for all of the craziness on Christmas and Christmas Eve.

He and his cousin John were both ready for bed, but neither cried. 

What Else is Crawford Doing?

Luckily he is still sleeping through the night, although his wake-up time varies each morning between 5:30 and 7:30.  He loves to play and constantly flips over to his tummy – he is slowly learning how to flip from his tummy to his back.  He is grabbing for toys and then immediately likes to put them in his mouth.  Right now his fists are his favorite thing, but he will take anything.  I think he has pretty much mastered the whole head control thing.  And the cutest thing – he will grab your face and bring his head towards yours and “eat” your nose.  Kyle and I think he is giving us kisses!!  And this boy loves to talk!!  When he gets going, he doesn't want to stop.

Although I feel like there has been so much going on, I can’t remember what it is!!  So, I am off to wrap presents and start packing for our trip to Jackson Hole!

My Little Peanut

Crawford went to the doctor Friday, but thankfully no shots!  He weighed 12 pounds, 10 ounces and the length is up for debate.  I thought I heard the nurse say 50 centimeters, but when Kyle converted that to inches he would only be a little over 19 inches and I know he hasn’t shrunk, so…  I also forgot to ask Dr. Ronnie what percentile this put him in, but from my research online I think he is still around the 30^th percentile.  I wish he would stay this little forever!  Again I am so thankful that he is little and can still wear some newborn outfits and most of his three months.

We had a pretty relaxing weekend – Crawford realized it was the weekend and slept past 6:00 AM both Saturday and Sunday morning!  We ran a few errands and he and Kyle went to Best Buy on Sunday while I was at a cookie swap.  I left before he was dressed and when they came home this is what I found in the living room. 

How cute!!  And I just love the bib placement!  I can’t wait to see him all bundled up in a few weeks when we all go to Jackson Hole – he is going to be the cutest snow bunny!  Are snow bunnies just girls??

A Weekend of Firsts

Another weekend of firsts for Baby Crawford!  Saturday we did some shopping and went to eat at a RESTAURANT.  I know it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but believe me it is!  This is the first time Kyle and I have eaten out since Crawford arrived.  It was so nice to know we could all handle it!  He was hungry too, so we fed him when we got there and then put him in his car seat and this really cool car seat holder and he watched as we ate.  He did have a dirty diaper and I had to change him in the bathroom – I absolutely hate all the germs that are hiding on those changing devices, but what other option did I have.  I tried to change him at the table, but Kyle would not allow – I can’t imagine why not.  Just thinking – I guess I could have brought him to the car and changed him.  Oh well, maybe next time.

We also got our Christmas tree this weekend.  Once again he was so well behaved.  And so far he doesn’t seem to mind the tree.  Several people mentioned before I got the tree that they couldn’t have a real one because their babies would cough uncontrollably; thankfully Crawford is not one of those babies.  I’m just not a big fan of the fake trees – not yet, at least.

He also got to go to Nan’s with daddy while I decorated the tree.  This was also a first for me!  My mom always comes over to decorate, but she was in New York and I just couldn’t wait, so I attempted it myself.  I think it came out okay!  He also learned how to splash his daddy in the bathtub this weekend and I hear he thought it was hilarious!  What a cutie! 

Thankfully he continues to sleep through the night from around 8:30 to 5:30, so mom and dad are extremely grateful – mom mostly!!  We go to the doctor this Friday for his three month checkup – he’s a week late, but that’s okay.  I can’t wait to see how much he is going to weigh.  My guess is around 13 pounds, which I think will bump him up from the 35^th percentile.  My little baby – I’m still not sure how the two of us ended up with such a little one.
